22/07/10 Glovedup 4 NHS at 123 Boutique

Glovedup has been following the design antics of Dr Noki for years - 13 to be exact; when he started his counter-mass-culture fashion label, cutting-up and reworking second hand clothes and brands. Anyone familiar with Dr Noki and his label NHS will recognize his fashion forward and totally individual aesthetic, which has deeply thoughtful references and undoubted integrity. As fellow collaborators on the House of Organza show last year, Glovedup and Dr Noki finally got to meet and soon talked of working together to create an NHS collection of gloves for his 123 Bethnal Green Road shop.

Over the last few months Glovedup has been the most grateful recipient of Dr Noki's resource of second-hand clothing. Starting with a sack of swimsuits, underskirts, NHS custom printed sweatshirts and an african print coat - Glovedup has created a mini collection of thoroughly modern NHS inspired gloves. 18/07/10 Glovedup and Dr Noki at Lovebox Festival

Dr Noki made history on Sunday 18th July being the first designer to stage a full-on fashion show at a music festival and what a show he put on. The looks in the show were brilliantly styled by Dr Noki's stylist Kim Howells whose clients include Hannah Marshall, Fred Butler, Piers Atkinson; a very talented bunch of designers .

Hot off Glovedup creator Laura's hands, the studded bandage strap gloves, made from Dr Noki custom printed second-hand sweat-shirts were sported by model no 1 who stormed the mainstage. 18/07/10 Glovedup on stage with Peaches at Lovebox Festival in London's Victoria Park

Fans of avant-garde electro punk rock performance artiste Peaches will no doubt be all too familar with her XXX batwing cape gloves made by Glovedup in 2003. Since then there have been a few more glove commissions and chance meetings but none so fine as at Lovebox, when the temporarily wheel-chair bound artiste asked Glovedup creator Laura (and passionate roller skater) if she'd like to skate on stage. Without a second's hesitation - it was a no questions asked YES.

Laura loves Victoria Park: it's where she learnt to skate again, spending hours/days, headphones on and locked into Rinse FM, or indeed a Peaches album. She's dreamed of skating at Lovebox, and she's dreamed of skating for Peaches. So later that day, Laura headed to the stage, threw on her skates (literally very quickly - no warm-up) and launched onto the mainstage to face the thousands of sun-scorched fans to skate to More and then Boys Wanna Be Her - for sure it beat skating alone in Victoria park, or at the Vienna Life Ball in 2007, a V & A party, ... chez Heatherette in the Empire State Building in 2006.

The mega talented couturier Lyall Hakaraia dreams of covering his studio building aka Vogue House in his ruffled organza textile but started by asking fellow designers to create art/fashion pieces for his self titled exhibition: House of Organza. Glovedup gloves in Showstudio Fashion Revolution Exhibition at Somerset House

Glovedup gloves in Showstudio film, now showing at Somerset House. Showstudio's Nick Knight commissioned fillm maker Ruth Hogben, to create a video montage of different body parts. Ruth's stylist Ellie Cumming styled Glovedup gloves in the "right hand" movie. The exhibition runs till 20th December, after which it will go online.
